Most resilience measures were not built for people who operate under life-or-death pressure. Generic assessments miss the occupational realities faced by law enforcement, military, first responders, and high-stress organizational leaders. The science has not kept pace with the people who need it most.
GritDoc is developing next-generation psychometric instruments and evidence-based interventions built specifically for high-stress occupational populations. Current work centers on the APPS framework -- Adaptability, Perseverance, and Recovery from Setback -- a theoretically distinct alternative to existing grit instruments with direct applications across law enforcement, military, first responder, and organizational leadership contexts.

22Zero is a nonprofit dedicated to healing veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families from post-traumatic stress through a non-invasive, peer-to-peer intervention model using the Trauma Healing Process and Emotional Healing Process.
At 22Zero's request, Mark Garland collaborated with Dr. Edward R. Maguire and co-authors on an original research study examining the effectiveness of their programs. The research is currently under peer review -- contributing independent, empirical validation to one of the most promising trauma intervention models serving the veteran and first responder community.
